01 / CONNECT

Connect your agent to Margin.

MCP is the connection between your agent and Margin. Sign in with your Margin account and review the requested permissions.

You can revoke access from Agent connections. Signing out of the website does not disconnect your agent.

Run in your terminal
codex mcp add margin --url 'https://getmargin.cv/mcp'
codex mcp login margin

Sign in to Margin in the browser and approve the permissions. Open a new Codex session after connecting. Codex MCP documentation.

Connection is disabled on this instance. Use these setup instructions after its operator enables MCP.

02 / ASK, READ, REVISE

Keep the document in the conversation.

1

Start with the evidence

“Check my allowance, then review this CV against the attached job description. Keep my supporting notes separate.”

2

Work through the findings

“Read the completed Margin report. Show the source quotation for each change you suggest. Ask me about missing facts.”

3

Check the revision

“Review this revised CV in the same application. Tell me which cited problems remain.”

Reviews run in the background. Your agent receives a run ID and checks back for the result; reconnecting does not require starting another review.

03 / TOOLS

Five tools, one application.

get_review_allowance
Check available reviews and revision eligibility.
save_application
Save CV text, the vacancy and separate supporting notes.
start_review
Start a review and receive a run ID.
get_review
Check progress or retrieve the report and its citations.
check_revision
Check an updated CV within the same application.

YOUR EXISTING ALLOWANCE

The same checks you use on the website.

Connecting, saving drafts and retrieving reports do not consume a check. Starting a review reserves a check; a completed review consumes it. Failed reviews release the reservation.

An application includes its full review and one revision within 30 days of the first successful review. Quick checks have a separate allowance.

Give your agent permission to start a review only when you are ready to use a check. Purchases stay in Margin.

BEFORE YOUR FIRST REVIEW

What your agent sends and receives.

Can Margin read a file on my computer?

Your agent must read the file and send its extracted text. A local path or a link to a PDF is not enough. Your agent can also send JPEG page previews for layout feedback. With text alone, Margin cannot assess the original layout. The website’s PDF upload flow extracts text and creates page previews for you.

What can a connected agent access?

The permissions you approve control access to your account’s review reports, status and allowances, and whether the agent can save drafts or start reviews. Review these permissions before connecting. Revoking a connection prevents further access; it does not delete reports or cancel a review already running.

Where does my CV go?

Margin stores submitted text, optional page previews and reports in your account and sends required review content to its configured AI provider. Your agent’s provider also processes the content you give it and the reports it retrieves. Margin’s draft retention is seven days of inactivity; reviewed applications have a 90-day inactivity period. Cleanup depends on scheduled maintenance. Read the privacy policy.

Should I keep editing until my score goes up?

Use the cited findings and requirement matches to decide what to change. Numeric scores can vary and do not predict hiring outcomes. Confirm every factual addition and preserve your personal contribution when your agent rewrites a passage.
